1,000,000 m²
of Green Life in
the Heart of the Desert
“A project to transform the
desert into the FOREST”
VISION
• A living laboratory of nature.
Not a park.
• Goal: to show how 1,000,000 m² of desert becomes a resilient
green ecosystem.
• A prototype for Dubai’s—and other Emirates’—future green districts.
Strategy of United Arab Emirates 2030

How It Works

TECHNOLOGY
WATER
TSE
STRAW
TO STOP THE SOIL
• Soil: biochar, organics, and hydrogels
to retain moisture.
• Water: drip irrigation + sensors + solar pumps.
• Source: city treated sewage effluent (TSE).

PLANTS
HERE WILL BE
10000+
DESERT PLANTS
• Plants: Tamarix aphylla, Parkinsonia aculeata,
Ziziphus spina-christi, Ghaf, Acacia tortilis
Their deep roots and tough leaves prevent erosion,
restore arid land, and support biodiversity in harsh
climates.

Why It Matters
• 1,000,000 m² of desert is a huge
potential for life.
• Climate: heat up to +50 °C, sand,
lack of moisture — yet greening is still
possible here.
• The cities of the future need green
districts, and we can make them —
turning sand into life.

IMPACT
The 1,000,000 m² Site
• Lower temperatures in the local area.
• Sand retention and reduced dust.
• Creation of green “islands” for people and wildlife.
• Proof that the desert can be livable and sustainable.
